Fear of driving/driving test – Dealing with driving test nerves is the last thing you want on your big day. There are a number of different treatments for driving/driving test fears. One of which is called Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP). During this kind of treatment you will learn how to create a new, healthier reality for yourself that does not include a fear of driving/driving test. Neurolinguistic Programming can minimize, if not completely eliminate a fear of driving/driving test. Another very effective treatment is hypnosis. This type of treatment allows you to reprogramme your subconscious mind, where your irrational fears reside. You learn to relax and replace those fears with healthy, positive thoughts, and you will find that your fear is greatly relieved, and maybe even completely gone.

You’re nervous enough about passing the driving test; but being prepared is the number one thing you can do to calm your nerves. Remember though you aren’t going to feel 100% relaxed. After all, you’re driving a big machine and you need to be alert. But there are a few things you can do to feel a little calmer.
Besides practicing, one of the best ways to calm your driving test nerves is to visualise you taking the test and being successful. Your mind is a very powerful thing, and if you can see yourself doing well, your mind will believe that you have already taken your test and passed. So you’ll go into your test feeling confidant, sure of success, and prepared both mentally and physically.
Driving instructors agree that the most important thing you can do to be ready to pass your test is to be relaxed and confident. Knowing that you can make 15 mistakes and still pass might help, and so will being confident in your driving skills.
Fear of driving – This fear can be caused by any number of things. Maybe you had a car accident or lost a loved one in an accident. Or maybe you’ve experienced some physical changes that have caused you to feel less confident about your driving ability; poor eyesight, dizziness, or slower response times. Any of these can cause a fear of driving, and that fear compounds itself over time, each time you think about driving, until you find yourself in the middle of a full-blown phobia.
